Our Sustainability Action Plan sets out our strategy for 2025–2030. Structured around 4 themes, with defined goals and measurable targets, it drives our commitment to responsible, sustainable practices across all operations.
Our Commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
While ESS recognises that all 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are relevant to its broader mission and service delivery, a focused set of SDGs are particularly applicable to ESS internal operations and organisational practices.
These goals guide our internal sustainability efforts, while the full SDG framework continues to inform the services we provide and the impact we seek to deliver externally.
Sustainability is an integral part of our company culture, and extends throughout our value chain to include our clients and our suppliers.
Our Mission and Vision Statements explicitly articulate how we have designed our business model around integrating sustainability goals in our activities as well as in our services to clients, and what we aspire to acheive in the long term.
We have developed an ESG and Sustainability Strategy that provides strategic direction on sustainability at ESS, and sets out how we contribute to addressing some of the most urgent and important challenges globally in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Further, to demostrate our ambitions and commitments on sustainability, ESS is a signatory of the United Nations Global Compact. We undertake regular annual UNGC reporting on progress in line with the SDGs.

ESS works with a variety of forward-thinking clients, including companies, investors, financial institutions, governments, NGOs and other organisations that collaborate to improve sustainability outcomes in emerging markets.
We focus on working with sectors that contribute to sustainability, but recognise that emerging economies may decide to use fossil fuels such as gas as they transition to sustainable approaches. As such, we do work with gas production companies, as this is a transition fuel which is part of energy generation plans in many emerging markets.
However, we recognise that some emerging economies intend to use fossil fuels such as gas as they transition to sustainable approaches. As such, we do work with companies that produce, transport or combust gas for energy.
Exclusions that we apply include:
